Hey friends,
Today, I’d like to share some ways I’ve been reclaiming my life. I hope you don’t mind giving me a moment of your time (BARS) LOL… Almost three years ago, my life was turned upside down. When I say I lost EVERYTHING, I mean everything. I am literally starting all over. Knocking on 40’s door with nothing to show for it, well, not externally. It has been quite a journey. The wisdom and knowledge gained along the way have been priceless. Here are my 3 top practices that helped me embrace these changes. I wish someone would have shared them with me. If you enjoy this type of vibe, subscribe so you won’t miss out on more lifestyle tips and tricks.
- Regulating my nervous system, I was very green to this analogy. First off, how do I do this? And is it going to take long? I had little to no patience(frfr). Since elementary school, I was always on the move. People would ask me in the hall, “Why are you walking so fast? Slow down.” For me, that was my norm. I seemed to have brought that habit into adulthood as well. Never slowing down, feeling like I always had a point to prove, or better yet, be everyone’s superwoman. IYKYK. I said this to say SLOW DOWN(LITERALLY) EAT SLOWER, WALK SLOWER, HELL EVEN SPEAK SLOWER. THIS METHOD SENDS A SIGNAL TO YOUR BRAIN AND BODY THAT YOU ARE SAFE AND COMES OUT OF SURVIVAL MODE.
- Talk to yourself. Your body and mind hold the key to your wellness. If you’re looking for some truth, your body will be the one to give it to you straight with no chaser. Not going to lie, this made me feel like I was nuts at first. However, it has truly helped me to trust myself a lot more.
- Lastly, but not least, Stillness, sit still. This is different from slowing down, and here is why. When you slow down, you’re never really still, right? Your mind is already on tomorrow’s list of things to do. Trust me, I know. Stillness is when you are able to sit with yourself and just “feel” everything that’s in your body (aches and pains) but also your mind (everything) and quiet it. I would start by letting whatever it was play all the way through in my head. Then, when it was done, I would imagine myself pushing it out the “vault” and watching it fly away on a cloud. Seriously, I had to start from the ground up with this healing because it is not for the weak.
